ASTERISK
For many years my absolute favorite daylily: a
nocturnally-opening spatulate Unusual Form with sepal base quilling and
occassionally petal base quilling. The flower's colours change from, on
cooler European early summer mornings, an oyster-lavender with glowing soft
yellow throat and green heart to, after sun and warmth have had its way
with it, a near-white with very subtle tan-flesh hints and an ivory-lemon
throat. Top-branched and a bud builder when well grown, it has bloomed for
nearly two and a half months in our garden. Very slow increase.

A good parent, but reduces the branching of many
seedlings and often reduces the growth (increase rate) of the seedlings.
. Positive effects have been the flattening-open of the flower forms, the
addition of colour-changing hues (temperature sensitive lavenders, buff-salmon,
grey-whites) and nocturnality.
