LADY HAWKE
ca. 26in, DOR, NOCT, BC 15 - 18, BR 2-3 way, MID. Pale ivory to white Crispata.
This beautiful ivory CRISPATA was a seedling out of ASTERISK and made my heart soar. I would sincerely love to develop an entire line of near-whites in this category.
This cultivar also has AQUAMARINE and a Sib to ASTERISK in its makeup. One of three seedlings selected out of 250, this was the only near white that had branching. It opens palest flesh-lavender then turns white in sun. A nocturnal, opening easily in cool weather. Good increase once established. Very slow if constantly chopped into. Fertile pollen, reluctant pod parent.
Superb addition to STAR OF GALADRIEL, SHADOWFAX and MOONLIT SUMMERBIRD in the near-white to ivory lemon class, this one is whiter and achieves its "whiteness" from quickly lightening its palest lilac-grey lavender base in sun. This colour-changing aspect is something that I particularly like and have selected for from the same aspects in ASTERISK.
