VANESSA ARDEN (King-Lamone 2001)
This cultivar has a very delicate colour and form,
being of the Cockerel class of the Crispatas but with a softer impression
than many other cockerels. The sepals lie flat and are quilled usually to
the base of the flower. The petals are lance-shaped and not rigid, lending
yet more softness to the presentation. This particular flower looks its
best with a few other, taller pastel-hued Exotic Forms with a backdrop of
Miscanthus sin. 'Variegata' or 'Morning Light'.
Another seedling of my numerous GOLLIWOG X ASTERISK
crosses, this delicate pure pale lavender variable Crispata is a dormant,
nocturnally-opening flower that is stunningly clear in colour. Blooming
on branched scapes at about 26 inches, the plants seem to be pod sterile,
but realtively pollen fertile. A beautiful addition in the Crispata border!
