LEMON STARFISH (King-Lamone 2000)
This is a subtle form of the Variable Crispata
class. The success of this seedling was, to me, in its very well-branched
scapes, heavy-flowering scapes that do not crowd the flowers, and the very
flat flower form with the outter tips of the sepals twisting gently. The
overall effect is quieter than my AUGUSTO BIANCO or MOONLIT PIROUETTE.
A very heavy-blooming large-flowering nocturnal.
The blossoms can be seen opening already for the next day's bloom. The initial
burst of bloom is so heavy that I recommend daily cleaning of the spent
blossoms until the plant settles down into more singularly spaced blooms.
A very fertile plant, producing many seeds per pod. Flower size approximately
7 inches, three way branching with ca. 25 to 30 buds. A hardy DORMANT that
starts blooming in Early Midseason and does not stop until the Very Lates
begin.
Reblooms often for us here in Italy, which ample
moisture, making it often the longest-blooming daylily in our entire collection.

Flowers open very flat and recurve and twist somewhat
in hot weather, sometimes reminiscent of LOIS BURNS in form and poise. Very
heavy substance and sunproof at 30ºC (ca. 90ºF), this dormant
has sweet fragrance in warm and humid weather.
