(Winsome Lady X Tylwyth Teg) salmon crispata
(the flower is more salmon than this digital image
portrays)
This particular cross was made in hopes of capturing
the pure pink of WINSOME LADY with the branching and thin flower forms of
TYLWYTH TEG. Most of the cross's 100 seedlings look like the near ancestors
of each parent: trumpet and star-shaped early 60's David Hall pinks and
melons. A few showed the Classic Spider influence of TYLWYTH TEG's ancestory.
Colours were clear and ranging from pale melon, cream, lavender, salmon,
rose, rose violet, yellow and mauve, but very few were distinctive. I liked
this flower as it displayed a beautiful soft, rich salmon colour as well
as the large, flat-open, nocturnally-opening qualities that I like in a
Crispata. This form is a VARIABLE CRISPATA in that each day's flowers strike
a different pose in twirling and pinching tepals. No two flowers are exactly
alike. Slow increase, one side branch, pod and pollen fertile.
